2009 Bow Qualifications and 3-D Target Shooting.
The Dayton Rod & Gun Club provides archery qualification services for the State of Maryland, Howard County, Montgomery County, and other managed hunting programs that require bowhunter performance certification.  The club also makes its elevated platform available for archery practice in a safe, natural setting.

Practice on our two level elevated shooting platform (9 ft and 14 ft) set in a wooded environment, on any of the qualification dates listed below.  Cost is just $5 to shoot as much as you want at 3D deer, bear, pigs and turkeys.

Archery Qualification Rules and Dates

State Requirements: Archer must place arrow shaft within the outlined “vitals” area of each of three 3D deer targets positioned from 10 to 25 yds away, using only five arrows. Arrows must be equipped with broadheads. Archer can shoot from elevated platform or from the ground.

County Requirements: Archer must place arrow shaft within the marked six inch circular area on each of three 3D deer targets positioned from 10 to 25 yds away, using only four arrows. Arrows must be equipped with broadheads. Archer must shoot from elevated platform, while wearing a full-body safety harness (provided). Only one qualifying attempt per day is allowed.

Cost:  The Club charges a fee of $5.00 per qualifying attempt, for use in buying replacement qualifying targets.
